HAUGHTY WORDS

READ: DANIEL 4:28-32

In 1 Samuel 25:10-11, Nabal asked, “Who is David and who is the son of Jesse?” This was a statement loaded with pride. According to Isaiah 14:12-14, Satan was the first person to display pride in speech and attitude. In this passage, Satan used the word ‘I’ several times in a few sentences. In our reading, Nebuchadnezzar delivered a similar proud speech which landed him in serious trouble. Watch your language.
One thing about proud people is that they may not even know they are proud. The use of ‘I’ too often may be a pointer to pride in your life.
“See now that I, even I, am He, and there is no god with Me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound and heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of My hand” (Deuteronomy 32:39).
There is only one person who is called ‘I AM’ (Exodus 3:13-14). If you are fond using ‘I’, you have to be careful lest you are indirectly equating yourself with God. If you do not desist from this, God might have to prove to you that beside Him, there is no other ‘I’. He will not share His glory with any other person. The speech of the proud usually gives him away as one who has forgotten his or her source. It does not matter what you have acquired. It is certain that you made nothing. All things were made by God (John 1:1-3).
Also according to James 1:7, you own nothing; God owns everything. He even put the breath of life in your nostrils (Genesis 2:7).
According to Daniel 4:32, He is the One in control of governments. He can make you a ruler of a nation or remove you as He pleases. God is the One who can undo whatever has been done. Submit yourself under the authority of His word. Never use your mouth against Him. If He is truly your Source, treat Him as such. Make Him happy in all you do. Whenever He uses you to perform miracles, openly give all the glory to Him. Always put Him ahead of you.

MEMORIZE: PSALM 12:3 –The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things.

TIME TO FLY

READ: PHILIPPIANS 3:13-14

You have been empowered by God. You have been anointed. You have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Praise God. If you get the power but refuse to use it, you will lose it. To avoid losing your power, do not repeat the mistakes made by those who lost theirs. This is why you must be temperate in every area of your life according to 1 Corinthians 9:25-27. In addition, you must handle past successes with wisdom. Victory poorly managed brings defeat. According to today’s reading, thank God for past victories, put them behind you and press forward for the next higher place. Paul says, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
1 Corinthians 12:31 says you can covet spiritual gifts and the anointing. That means you can always ask for more. If you are content with the level you are, you cannot move an inch further. But if you ask for more, God will give you more. Pilots are upgraded depending on how long they have been flying, measured in hours. Years ago, God asked me: ‘If you want to employ a pilot, will you employ the one with one thousand hours flying experience or the one with twice that experience?’ I told Him I would prefer the latter because he is more experienced. Then He told me that those I saw with great anointing whom I admire, have flown more than I have. When I asked Him how they flew, He referred me to Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not the faint.”
Those wait on the Lord and fervently pray in tongues are actually flying. God told me although I have been praying, it has centered around bread and butter. If you pray in tongues, you pray for mysteries and deep things of God. Some people have never flown for one hour because they have not been baptized in the Holy Spirit. Some who have been baptized in the Holy Spirit pray in tongues once in a while. Today, God is calling you to fly.

FRESH ANOINTING

READ: JOEL 2:23-24

The Bible classifies rain in two broad ways: they are the former rain and the latter rain. These relate to the anointing in some significant way. The former rain is for planting while the latter rain announces the arrival of harvest time according to our reading. Extra anointing is God’s own way of completing the good thing He started in your life. It is the one God wants to give extra blessing and glory that would receive the extra anointing. Have you received the anointing at any time? That was to inform everybody that you have found favour with God. But beyond this, God gives you opportunity to actualize what He has destined you to be. When you have opportunity to be anointed the third, fourth and fifth time, God is simply making a unique statement.
David was anointed at least three times. Samuel sent for him from the jungle (1 Samuel 16:12-13). This anointing made him to realize he was a unique person before God. It also brought out the giant in him which made him subdue the physical giant – Goliath. After the death of king Saul, David was anointed again. This was when he was anointed king over Judah (2 Samuel 2:4). With this anointing, he ruled Judah over for seven years and six months (2 Samuel 2:11). Finally in 2 Samuel 5:1-3 he was anointed over the whole of Israel and ruled thirty three years over all Israel and Judah. Each anointing comes with greater responsibility.
The new anointing the Lord is going to release upon you will help to complete what God has begun in your life. When God anoints you again and again, it shows that you have become His anointed. The purpose of the extra anointing is to completely subdue the devil in your life and give you total victory. An angelic body guard is assigned to the anointed to prevent evil from coming near him according to Psalm 105:14-15. By the time you receive the fresh anointing, any evil power that tries to harm you will be consumed by fire. Go to God for fresh anointing. Have you been ordained? That is not the end but the only the beginning. Go for the greater anointing from God.
