HOW BIG IS GOD?

READ: ISAIAH 40:12-18

“Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who has created these things, that brings out their host by number: He calls them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one fails.” (Isaiah 40:26). Have you ever thought of how big God is? Many of us believe he is the same size, height and complexion as us. No wonder that we think of him as our ‘mate’. Some think that he is no different from idols in size and power. How wrong!
God is so big it may be difficult to comprehend him. But let us take a look at the Scriptures and see how he is described. Our reading says God has a hole in his hand and with it he measures the seas and oceans of the world. How big do you think that hand is? It also says that he calculates the sands of the earth in a measuring basket and weighs the mountains like Everest and Kilimanjaro on scales, and the hills in a balance.
Verse 15 says the countries of the world are like a drop (of water) in a bucket before God. To God all these nations are like specks of dust on the scales. They are nothing before him and he regards all the countries of the earth as less than nothing and worthless (v 17).
Verse 26 tells us that after creating the stars, he gave each of them names. Astronomers say there are over 40 sextillion stars that are suns to other planets. To arrive at sextillion, you first get to million, billion, trillion, quadrillion, quintillion. Yet God calls these over 40 sextillion stars by name. And he sustains not only the stars but everything else he has made by his Word. (Hebrews 1:3).
If that God who also created all things on earth, in heaven and everywhere is on your side, do you think you can lose any battle? Bow down and worship the true Majesty on high. If you have a revelation of who God is, you will be strong and do exploits.

LINKING BLESSING

READ: 2 KINGS 7:10-20

The siege in your life is over, in Jesus’ Name. From the story in our reading, there are certain lessons we can learn that are still relevant today to our walk with God. The first is being a link to blessings. The reason God did not immediately take us to heaven after our salvation was so that we too could be used of him in converting others.
You cannot tell what your convert will become tomorrow. Every great man of God, every general in the army of the living God, was converted by somebody. If you are fortunate in having such a person as your convert and later God uses that convert to bring thousands, even millions to the Lord, you will have reason to rejoice! Somebody converted Billy Graham who became a world evangelist. Your next convert could be another Billy Graham – you cannot tell.
In our reading we see a chain of activities. The lepers informed the porter at the city gate. The porter told other porters inside the city. They went to inform the king’s household and the chain continued until all the people arrived at where the food was. Paul charged Timothy to commit everything he had taught him to the faithful brethren, who should in turn teach others. The blessing must not end with you. Pass it on. In your family, Jesus should not end with you – spread him around.
A driver once preached to his female boss and she received Christ. She in turn preached to her elder sister who also received him. Later this elder sister planted a church which grew so much that it covered three states. The foundation of the church can indirectly be attributed to the driver who started the chain. Start your own chain today. You might convert another Paul. Churches may begin through your converts. Start from where you are. Spread the good news around!

RECOVERING THE LOST

READ: MATTHEW 15:21-28

“Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.” (1 Timothy 6:17). All good things come from our God, the Father of light in whom there is neither variably nor shadow of turning. He delights in plying us with good things. His purpose is that we should richly enjoy his blessings. Just as God happily releases his blessings on us so also does Satan target them. His plan is to steal our joy and cause us to sing a sorrowful song.
Has Satan stolen your health, customers, prosperity, promotion, freedom or joy? The Lord will restore it to you in Jesus’ Name. If Satan has robbed you of something precious, you can either let him have it forever or fight the good fight until it is recovered. 1 John 3:8 says Jesus Christ came to reverse what the devil did and deemed sealed.
Samson was a terror to the kingdom of darkness. He was their worry, their fear while he was alive. Satan began to target the source of his power until finally he stole it (Judges 16:20-21). Has Satan stolen God’s endowments in your life? Has he eroded your source of power and joy? Arise now and put up a good fight of faith and you will recover all in Jesus’ Name. You are not alone in this fight. Jehovah Nissi is with you.
Samson cried to God in Judges 16:28 and he regained his lost anointing. His hair grew again and he killed more enemies at his death than in the years before. You too shall have a strong comeback. You will recover suddenly and powerfully and put the devil where he belongs. Arise and fight today. Take care to guard anything in prayer that God gives you henceforth. Resist the devil’s moves and stop him in his tracks. Stand on the Word and recover all today.
