TRUE GREATNESS

READ: MATTHEW 20:20-28
When you meet a man on the way, how can you tell if he is going to be great or not? Our sense of determining this, no matter how objective, still remains inadequate because man is limited in knowledge, understanding and ability to know the future. Some rich men you see today have no future. They will become so impoverished tomorrow that people will wonder if they ever tasted wealth. What do you do when you aspire to a position in your workplace, at school or even in church? Do not blackmail others so as to dethrone and replace them? These are carnal steps to greatness.
God is the greatest, hence he only can call you into true greatness. He has called all his children to become great, as he promised Abraham: “I will make a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). In becoming great, God's ways differ from and are sometimes even at variance with ours. For instance, those we believe will make it in life, are the brilliant, most talented, most educated; those born with silver spoons in their mouths. Yet God sees a man who does not have any of those qualities and says, 'You will be great' and it is so.
As a child of God, you should seek greatness God's way. Any position you fight for and succeed in obtaining by your own strength leaves God out! You stand alone. But when you seek your promotion from God, when you reach there, God gives you the ability to sustain and excel. To be great in God's house, whether you are pastor, a minister or leader, become the servant. The greater your level of service to others, the higher your position in God's Kingdom. For man, the way up is by climbing up. But with God, the way up is down. This calls for true humility.
That apart, invest your time, monetary resources and intellect in salvation of souls and the Kingdom. Spend and be spent for the Master. The Scriptures says he is not unrighteous to forget your labour of love. In addition, separate from every Lot, delight greatly in God's Word, live by it and walk in absolute obedience to God. You will become great.
MEMORIZE: MATTHEW 23:11 -But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.
