HIS CHOICE, YOUR CHOICE

READ: ACTS 1:15-26
Marriage can be likened to a building. If the foundation is faulty the building will collapse sooner or later. What then is the foundation of marriage? It is the type of choice that you make. You can only experience success in your marriage if you begin by accepting God’s will. If you are single, you must make up your mind not to choose for yourself. Seek God’s will and He will guide you right. A number of mature men and women have remained unmarried simply because they are not ready to do God’s will. A sister was praying to God to reveal her husband to her. She prayed fervently until God told her to look out of the window of her house and that the man she would see out there was her husband. The gateman happened to be a tall, handsome young man who waned to go to school but had no scholarship. The sister went to relate her experience to her Pastor. When the Pastor called the gateman brother, he said God had told him the same thing long before that meeting but he was afraid to tell the sister. Anyway, the sister succumbed to God’s will. The brother went back to school through the scholarship of the sister and they eventually got married. If it were some other people, they would have rebuked Satan for bringing about such an idea. They would instead manipulate everything to suit themselves. Brothers, especially, have a way of manipulating the issue even up to the point of telling God to help them choose between two sisters. They also go to the extent of throwing a coin to assist God to choose for them. They will even support themselves with the Scripture. They say that after all, in Acts 1:15-26, when the Apostles wanted to choose a successor to Judas Iscariot, they presented two people and ask God to choose for them. They did not read further to discover that nobody ever heard of Matthias again. Please do not choose first and ask god to ratify. Keep yourself open. Tell God, “If I marry, glory is to your name, and if I do not, the glory is to your name.” It is only then that you can hear directly from Him. If you have made up your mind to marry, whether God likes it or not, you will marry, but you may regret your choice.
MEMORIZE: ROMANS 8:6 –For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
