TERRIFYING THE ENEMY

READ: 1 PETER 5:8-11
Our lesson today centres on the fact that the goal of each child of God should be to become a terror to the enemy. The king of Syria had discovered that Elisha was too dangerous a man to disregard. By now, witches and wizards ought to have discovered that you are a terror and that they cannot tamper with you. If you have not reached this stage yet, you better pray that you get there today. God will answer this prayer because it is according to His words that your fear should be upon your enemies (Deuteronomy 2:25). This is the true promise of God. When a true child of God enters a town, every agent of the devil in that town should tremble. When a city is besieged, just as Samaria was, certain things happen. First and foremost, it means that enemies surround the city. Secondly it means that the people inside are shut in. It means that those who are inside the city cannot come out to get fresh supplies. Also, they would have to depend solely on whatever was inside before the siege began. This implies that the supplies within would begin to dwindle. Also, because no one knows when the siege would end, and what would be the end result, there would be fear and uncertainty about the future. Then, when the situation gets to a crisis point, the besieged people surrender to the enemy. However, God expects the people to make the enemy flee. The book of 1 Peter 5:8-10 says:”Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.” Do you want to be a victim or a victor?
MEMORIZE: DEUTERONOMY 2:25 –This day I will begin to put the dread and fear of you upon the nations under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.
