It is good
to sow into God’s servants and the needy. The Scripture assures us that what we
sow, we will surely reap. We should not become impatient after sowing a seed,
because there is a time for everything under heaven. There is a time to sow and
a time to reap. Usually you do not expect to reap on the same day you have
sown.
Giving is a type of seed. Prayer too is a type of seed. Having given or prayed, and released your faith, you need to be patient for the seed to undergo its normal processes of development. According to our reading, a seed that has been sown has to first produce the blade, then the ear and then the full corn in the ear. Thereafter, it has to ripen before it is harvested. Do you allow your seeds to undergo these stages?
“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.” (James 5:7).
Some of us, having paid our tithes become discouraged when the windows do not yet appear to be open. Others begin to harvest their seed at a stage when it is not yet ripe. When you expect your blessing to work out before the appointed time, you are uprooting the seed that is still developing. Sin, disobedience and unbelief are also ways by which we uproot the seeds we have sown, and even destroy them.
“For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” (Hebrews 10:36).
The Scripture tells us that there is a middle path between obeying God’s Word and seeing the fulfilment of the same Word. That middle path is patience. Are you losing hope of having that answer to your prayer? Are you now so tired of waiting for God’s will that you want just anyone or any option? You are trying to harvest an unripe seed. Wait in faith!
