REVELATION 1:4-6
God has
created us to be kings and queens, but more importantly he has created us as
priests of the Most High God. God’s purpose for us is to be priests. This does
not mean that you are missing your calling if you do not become a pastor. There
is difference between being a pastor and being a priest. Being a priest is not
confined to one office in the church. Cleaners, sanitation officers and
ministers can, and should, all be priest.
What are the duties of a priest?
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.” (1 Peter 2:9).
This verse says our first duty is to praise and worship the One who has called us into his light. We should worship him with our whole being, in spirit and in truth. Another duty is to convert men to God in order to increase the number of people who worship him. Each time you convert a soul, you add another worshipper (John 15:16). As a priest, God also expects you to bear witness of what you have seen, heard and experienced in Christ, according to Acts 1:8. Have you been saved? Then proclaim God as Saviour to others. Have you been healed/ tell others of his healing power. Be a witness today.
Our fourth duty as priests is to rescue those who perish by doing the works that Jesus did – and even greater works than that (John 14:12). “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38).
As a priest of God, you should move in the supernatural, be filled and used by the Holy Spirit to deliver, heal and bless people. Accept your calling as God’s priest today.
