SACRIFICE ENHANCES FULFILLMENT OF PROMISES

READ: 1 SAMUEL 2:27-30
If a competition of benevolent givers was to be organized, do not be surprised to see unbelievers winning. Whether they do it with the right motive or in order to be seen is not the issue here. Quite a number of unbelievers believe they should touch lives through giving. The late Moshood Abiola was one person who touched the lives of many through giving. Why is that believers want to keep whatever they receive to themselves? It is because they hold a wrong view of giving. They believe that becoming store houses for blessings is the secret to increase. But in God’s view, you must be ready to sacrifice in order to increase.
In Genesis 22:1-18, it was after Abraham was ready to sacrifice Isaac that God spoke from heaven and swore to uphold the promises He earlier made. It is not enough for God to make a promise. After a promise comes a test. God would want to determine your readiness for the fulfillment of the promise. Your response to the test is what determines whether to swear to fulfil the promise earlier made like in the case of Abraham or to withdraw from His commitment like the case of Eli (1 Samuel 2:27-30). The Lord will not reverse His good thoughts, plans and promises towards you in Jesus name. Unlike Abraham, many believers have refused to sacrifice their Isaac. Their Isaac appears too precious to be given to the Lord who gave him to them in the first place. Unknown to them they have, by their refusal to sacrifice, truncated the process of establishing the promises earlier given to them. What is your Isaac today? What is so important to you that can compete with God in your life? Give it up now.
It was when the widow of Zerephath sacrificed her last meal that her last became first in a series of supplies that lasted about two and a half years. Has God made you some promises? Until you die to your flesh and release your Isaac, they may not be fulfilled. If God is not worth your Isaac, you are not worth His promises. The choice is yours. Take that Isaac to the altar and give him up to God. Your Isaac could br a crucial decision, commitment, relationship, ambition, material or financial benefit. It could even be a member of your family.
MEMORIZE: GENESIS 22:12 –And He said, Lay not your hand upon the lad, neither do you any thing to him: for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son from Me.
