DOUBT CAUSES DUMBNESS

READ: LUKE 1:13-20
If there is one biblical character who will tell you how dangerous it is – and what consequences there are – if you don’t take God in his Word, it is Zachariah the priest. He was well regarded by everyone. He had only one problem – he and his wife had no children, and they were both getting on in years.
When they were younger, they stood in faith, hoping to be blessed with a child. The years came and went until they resigned themselves to the fact that they would never have a child. What they did not know, was that God was planning to give them a son who would become a prophet greater than all the Old Testament prophets. Their offspring would prepare the way for the King of kings to descend to earth as a human being.
The best gifts do not come to just anyone. They come to those who have been chosen by God. No matter your present condition, hope and keep hoping that the Lord will pour out his blessing on you. Your day of visitation will come. In fact, God may just be reserving that special gift for you which will make your life truly outstanding.
Wait on the Lord. Continue to please him. Do not stop serving him simply because the answer to your request has not come. Rather grow in the dedication, love and worship. He will visit you!
One day Zachariah went about his normal duties, when he met an angel. Gabriel shared with him that his prayers for a child would be answered. Zachariah doubted this and, as a result, became dumb until the prophecy was fulfilled.
Unbelief is capable of hindering your progress. Imagine not being able to speak for nine months like Zachariah! Unbelief, especially coming from someone who should know better, holds us back terribly. Have you caged yourself through unbelief? Repent today and renew your faith in the Lord.
MEMORIZE: LUKE 1:20 –And, behold, you shall be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because you believe not my words which shall be fulfilled in their season.
