DUTIES TOWARDS THE KING

READ: DEUTERONOMY 6:4-5

The one who is chosen by God has certain responsibilities to the One who has chosen him. In Isaiah 6:8, the Lord asked: “whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Isaiah’s reply was: “Here I am; send me.”  The responsibility of God here is that the one who is chosen should be available to the king at all times.
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” (1 Corinthians 4:2).
This gives us another duty the chosen one owes to God. He must be faithful. Are you faithful to God in every area of your life? Matthew 5:8 says the chosen one must be pure. It takes a pure heart to go before a Holy God. Also, he must be diligent. Esther was a diligent person. She took time to fast and pray and dressed properly before approaching the king. Proverbs 22:29 reads: “See you a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
Do you take pains to seek God in prayer and fasting? Do you consider how you dress before the Lord? Is God happy with the kind of clothing you put on? Are the flesh and the devil jubilant over this seductively suggestive wear? Or are you clothed in the garments of righteousness at every moment?
Another responsibility of the chosen is humility. “God...gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6). He must acknowledge his King at all times. “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6). Also the chosen one must give the One who chose him love and put him first. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5).

The blessings of the favoured are great. The greater the blessing, the heavier the responsibility the chosen must bear. Go to the Lord for the grace to be able to meet his expectations for your life.
MEMORIZE: 1 CORINTHIANS 4:2 –Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
