HIS PRIEST

READ: REVELATION 1:4-6

God has created us to be kings and queens, but more importantly he has created us as priests of the Most High God. God’s purpose for us is to be priests. This does not mean that you are missing your calling if you do not become a pastor. There is difference between being a pastor and being a priest. Being a priest is not confined to one office in the church. Cleaners, sanitation officers and ministers can, and should, all be priest.
What are the duties of a priest?
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.” (1 Peter 2:9).
This verse says our first duty is to praise and worship the One who has called us into his light. We should worship him with our whole being, in spirit and in truth. Another duty is to convert men to God in order to increase the number of people who worship him. Each time you convert a soul, you add another worshipper (John 15:16). As a priest, God also expects you to bear witness of what you have seen, heard and experienced in Christ, according to Acts 1:8. Have you been saved? Then proclaim God as Saviour to others. Have you been healed/ tell others of his healing power. Be a witness today.
Our fourth duty as priests is to rescue those who perish by doing the works that Jesus did – and even greater works than that (John 14:12). “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38).
As a priest of God, you should move in the supernatural, be filled and used by the Holy Spirit to deliver, heal and bless people. Accept your calling as God’s priest today.

MEMORIZE: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:18 –And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation.

BENEFITS OF GOD’S EYES

READ: ACTS 12:20-23

When you want to pick a fight with someone, all you have to do is poke your finger is his eyes. Our eyes are a vital part of our body. If they are affected, the whole body is aware of it. Similarly, if you become the apple of God’s eye, anyone who touches you, touches God. Have you asked God to make you the apple of his eye yet?
“In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them: in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.” (Isaiah 63:9).
If you are the apple of God’s eye, he is acutely aware of any suffering in your life, because he suffers with you. In Acts 9:1-6 Saul was heading for Damascus to persecute the church, but God met him on the way. When somebody throws a stone at your eyes, you instinctively dodge it the moment you see it. God pre-empted Saul on his evil mission and ask him, “Saul, Saul why persecute you Me?” (Acts 9:4).
Paul must have been in shock. He thought he was fighting the Christians, but here God is telling him that he is fighting the Almighty himself. Anyone who fights against you is actually fighting the One behind you. That is why God says he will contend with those who are contending with you.
Hebrews 4:15 tell us that our high priest is touched by our infirmities. He feels the pain we feel. Are you God’s prophet? In Psalm 105:14-15, God warns that nobody should dare touch or harm his prophets. God stands by his children, no matter what. He has promised to neutralise the weapons and devices your enemies have formed against you (Isaiah 54:16-17). He could strike your opponent with an incurable disease as he did to Miriam (Numbers 12:1-15). He could bury your enemies as he did to Korah, Dathan and Abiram (Numbers 16:23-34). Your enemies could even be eaten by worms (Acts 12:20-23). Make sure that you are precious to God so that you may enjoy his protection.

KNOWING GOD’S PURPOSE

READ: HEBREWS 2:14-15

When you enter God’s presence and hear his voice, you are likely to discover God’s purpose for your life. Some people leave this world without ever having known the reason why they came into it the first place. There can hardly be a bigger tragedy than that.
In Exodus 3:1-4 we read of an 80 year old man who discovered God’s purpose for his life just as he was getting for retirement. That man’s name was Moses. How old are you? Do you know God’s purpose for your life? Even if you are 80 already, it is not too late! Moses never spent time in God’s presence prior to his experience at the burning bush. But once he had had that encounter with God, things began to pick up speed very rapidly.
“And Simeon answering said to Him, Master, we have t5oiled all the night, and have taken nothing nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” (Luke 5:5).
This is simply a summary of many of our lives. For years we have been fishing without catching anything. Many of us have earned salaries for years and have nothing to show for it. Life is not supposed to be a futile exercise. You are not born to run around in circles, without ever achieving any goals. Our God is a God of purpose. In John 3:16, God says he gave his only begotten Son for a purpose – so that anyone who believes in him can be saved.
According to our passage, Jesus died so that – through death – he might destroy the one with the power of death, and in the process deliver those who had been in bondage to the spirit of death. God created everything for a purpose. Proverbs 16:4 says even the wicked were created for a purpose. God has refused to destroy Satan since his rebellion because he needed someone to conduct examination for Him. When he does not need Satan anymore, God will put him in prison for 1000 years. You have been created for a purpose. Go to God and ask him: Why have you created me? You must do this so that God can reveal his plan for your life.

MEMORIZE: 1 CORINTHIANS 7:23 –You are bought with a price; be not you the servants of men.
