THE DEVIL’S LIES

READ: ROMANS 3:14-16
The devil is a smart propagandist. He is no foolish. If he comes to you with an outright lie you are likely to detect his antics. But when he coats falsehood with grains of truth you are not likely to suspect him. Whenever the devil is about to deceive he comes with a deceptive propaganda. Actually, what he does is he adds a bit of lie to the truth. When he was talking to Eve, in Genesis 3:4, he started with his own gospel: “And the serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die.” Here, he told a bit of truth and a bit of lie. What he was saying was that Adam and Eve would not die immediately after eating the fruit. He knew that they were going to die in the long run. He knew that the moment they disobeyed God, they would die spiritually. When Eve ate the fruit, she did not die physically. Since she did not die, this seemed to have confirmed Satan’s statement that they would not die. With this confidence, Eve approached Adam with the fact that they would not die. Satan usually tells people that it is not possible to be absolutely holy. He would tell you just to do the little you can and that, as long as your good outweighs the bad, you will make heaven. However, this is not the case. What God says is that you should keep all the commandments, and not the convenient ones. Once you do not keep one, you have failed in all. The devil has continued to sell his lies to men and women who are gullible. However, believers who are discerning are not ignorant of the devices of the enemy. Shun the devil’s lies. Buy the truth and sell it not.
MEMORIZE: GENESIS 3:4 –And the serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die.
