GOD’S FAVOURITE

READ: NUMBERS 10:20-23
God wants Christians to be His favourites. Although He has many offspring in this world, only those who make up the body of Christ are the true children of God. It is they he desires to fellowship with daily, to live in His presence continually, to share in His deepest secrets and to enjoy His closest confidence and trust. Being God’s favourite carries with it many privileges not available to others. For example, when Jesus Christ walked the earth, out of all the people in Israel, He chose twelve men as His disciples. It was these twelve who knew Him best as they were with Him most the time. Out of that group, our Lord further chose three as His closest companions. Yet, even among the three, there was one in whom He confided most; the one He entrusted the care of His own mother to at the cross (John 19:25-27). This disciple was referred to as the disciple whom Jesus loved (John 19:26). God speaks to some special people not in dreams and visions alone but in plain language. These are the favoured ones. Moses was such a favourite of God: “Then He said, Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, make Myself known to him in a vision, and I speak to him in dream. Not so with My servant Moses; he is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings; and he sees the form of the LORD.” (Numbers 12:6-8). There are other examples in the Bible of those to whom the Lord spoke, “mouth to mouth”. In Acts 9:10-19, God called Ananias by name. In Acts 10, God spoke directly to Cornelius and sent him to the house of Simon the tanner to ask after Simon Peter who would come to preach the Gospel to him and his household (Acts 10:1-6). Would you like for the Lord to speak to you in clear terms like this? Would you like to occupy such a highly esteemed position with God that He would speak to you “mouth to mouth”, as He did with His servant Moses? If so, the way to receive such detailed instruction from the Lord is by becoming His favourite. To do this you must conduct yourself in such manner as to become a favourite of the Almighty.
MEMORIZE: JOHN 19:26 –When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, Woman, behold you son!
