CORINTHIANS 9:24-27
The
Christian journey is one long, uneven narrow road surrounded by glittering
sights meant to distract pilgrims on the way. Not everyone who sets out to run
the Christian race wish finish it. Some will drop by the wayside while others
may be distracted and veer off the narrow path. “Do you not know that
those who run in the race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a
way that you may obtain it.” (1 Corinthians 9:24).
In the days of Gideon, 32000 men volunteered to go into battle. But by the time certain yardsticks were brought in to test their commitment to the war, only 300, that is less than 1%, remained. Scripture says many are called, but few are chosen. Do you allow yourself to be easily distracted from the good purpose you have set out to accomplish? If you do, you may not be able to accomplish God's plan for your life.
Many times, Satan uses one's spouse to distract the family from God's eternal plan. Abraham was a victim of this. God promised him son. Several years later, when they felt it may not happen because he and his wife had past childbearing age, Sarah offered Abraham an alternative. She became a distraction to the promise they held for so many years. If God had not intervened, Abraham would have lost God's plan for his life completely, to the distraction, Ishmael.
Today several women trusting God for the fruit of the womb, like Sarah, are the ones pushing their husbands to try all kinds of satanic alternatives, all in the name of getting a child. Be warned. You may just be mortgaging your glorious future for the danger, sorrow, regret and pain that the Ishmaelite alternative offers you. Do not be distracted from any promise God has made to you. Hebrews 10:36 says: “For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” God will make good his promise to you. Just keep on holding to him. Be focused. Avoid sin and worship him regularly. You will reach your desired end. Don't be distracted.
