WHAT DO YOU FEAR?

READ: MATTHEW 6:25-33
Fear is a very powerful weapon in the hands of the enemy. There are different shades of fear. With physical fear, there is the fear of loss. You may be afraid of losing all you have and going back into poverty. Satan attacked Job with this type of fear and succeeded. Some people exonerate Job of sinning, but he actually fell for the sins of fear and pride. He was so afraid of losing his wealth that Satan brought it to reality. Whatever you are afraid of, Satan will use it against you.
“For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.” (Job 3:25). Some parents are obsessed by the fear of losing their children. This is not of God, but a tormenting spirit from Satan. Why not turn to God for help? Scripture says you can do something about your fears. You can refuse to fear your fears. You can say ‘No’ to worry and anxiety – twin brothers to fear.
Also, you can cast your cares upon Jesus by reporting the situations causing fear in you to him. Tell him exactly how you feel and leave him to deal with the problem. After Hannah dropped her burden of barrenness on the Lord at Shiloh, there was a manifestation. Her countenance lit up and she stopped worrying and went to eat (1 Samuel 1:18). God is a heaven from fear (Psalm 56:3). “Turn away my reproach which I dread, for your judgments are good.” (Psalm 119:39). When the Psalmist was confronted by fear, he cried out to God for help. You too can cry to God concerning that fear, and it will never materialise.
An example of another shade of fear is the fear of the soul. This includes the fear of shame and disgrace. It was this type of fear that led David to arrange Uriah’s death. It is what make people abort. This fear is terrible, because it leads its victim straight into hell. Face the consequence(s) of your sin today, whatever they may be. Make restitution where necessary. Do not allow the shame of what people will say about the evil you have done, make you commit greater atrocities to cover up. There is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed sooner or later.
MEMORIZE: ISAIAH 8:12 –Do not say, a conspiracy concerning all that this people call conspiracy nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.
