COMFORT AND FIRE

READ: JEREMIAH 5:5-9

Thank God for prosperity. Having tasted both poverty and prosperity, I know that one is better than the other. Because of poverty, I walked barefoot for the first 18 years of my life. Today, I am one hundred percent in favour of prosperity. But comfort has its negative side. Some believers prayed morning, afternoon and evening when they lived in a one-room apartment. But having been prospered by God and now living in a mansion, with every room tastefully furnished and air-conditioned, and sleeping on waterbeds, they are fast losing their prayer life, fervency and Pentecostal fire to comfort.
In 2 Samuel 11:1-25, when David was sleeping from cave and running from Saul who was after his life, he did not have time for adultery. He was spiritually strong and prayerful then. But when he became very comfortable, instead of going to war at the time kings normally go to war, he went to sleep. It was when he woke up that he fell into lust after Bathsheba. The Lord will prosper you. But may prosperity that will take away God’s anointing on your life never come your way, in Jesus’ Name.
It is when comfort comes that you will begin to select food. It is the rich who have problems with obesity. They have all kinds of food and indulge themselves and before you know it, they are unable to move about. Their prayer life is zero. How is the Pentecostal fire burning in you? Some Christians do not have much fire when they are still going through hard times. By the time a little comfort comes, they become cold, worse than unbelievers.
Do you have fire in you? Do you feel God’s presence daily? Do you hear his voice frequently? Do you take time to seek him in prayer and fasting at least one day a week? Yield to God now. Do you care to ask God what lesson he is trying to teach you in that trial you are going through? Submit to God and let the flame of Pentecost burn.

MEMORIZE: AMOS 6:1 –Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
