HOW FAITH COMES

READ: ROMANS 10:11-17

Whatever you hear on earth can add to your faith, diminish it or leave it as it was. Romans 10:17 says: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Faith is the currency with which any good thing can be purchased from Heaven. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Why? God is a God of faith. He lives a life of faith. He calls those things which are not as though they were (Romans 4:17). Hence Mark 11:22 enjoins you to have God’s kind of faith.
Faith can grow or diminish. Since what you hear affects faith positively or otherwise, you ought to be careful to keep your ears away from those things capable of reducing your faith. To increase your faith, constantly listen to anointed messages of men of God. Also read your Bible aloud to yourself, because faith enters through the ear.
Meditate upon the Word so that you can understand it and reach the hidden truth. Psalm 1:1-2 states that the man who delights in God’s Word and meditates on it day and night is blessed. Meditating on the Word enables you to put it into practice and thereby draw prosperity to yourself (Joshua 1:8).
In addition, accept the Word and act upon it. Every word of God is pure and inspired by the Holy Spirit. Some people accept only those portions that favour them, such as Philippians 4:19, but reject Malachi 3:10. They will accept Psalm 23 but find it difficult to accept 1 Peter 1:15-16. You cannot accept his shepherdhood without first accepting your own sheephood. In the same vein, base all your actions on the Word. Peter obeyed the Lord’s command and let down his nets and was blessed (Luke 5:1-7). Confess the Word regularly; let it not depart from your mouth. For you can be saved through your confession (Romans 10:10). Any time you face opposition, confess what God says about it. Are you ready to feed your soul with God’s Word today?

MEMORIZE: ROMANS 10:17 –So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
