THE DIVINE SHADE

READ: ISAIAH 49:13-16
Today let me share an interesting story or allegory with you. In a certain river there lived three fishes and two sharks. These sharks terrorised the fishes. These fishes then had a prayer meeting and God told them to ask for one thing each. The first one said it wanted eyes all over its body so that it would see the sharks before they pounced on it. The second asked for wings with which it could fly out of the river whenever the sharks came to attack. The third one simply asked that God should be by its side all the time. God granted their individual requests. Soon, the sharks came hunting. They attacked first with many eyes and it began to swim ashore. It took a jump out of the river into a little pool of water outside. The sharks turned back. Very soon, the sun rose and the little pool of water dried up and the fish with many eyes died. The sharks then pursued the fish with wings. It too flew out of river and as it was laughing at the sharks, an eagle flying above saw it and pounced on it and killed it. The sharks thereafter pursued the third fish, which was not even scared of them. It was enjoying itself. The baby shark was eager to pounce on the fish but the mother shark had already seen the shadow of a man covering the fish. The mother shark said, “We dare not go near that fish.” The Bible states that, “The LORD is your shade at your right hand.” (Psalm 121:5). Stay close to Him and you will remain secure forever. God is the only true source of security. He is the only One who stands by your side and keeps the enemy at bay. Our text gives us wonderful promise that will grant us victory in our battles. As long as the presence of God is with you, the sharks of this world will not be able to pounce on you. God has graven you upon His palms. He is your shade. He will contend with those that contend with you. He will feed your oppressor with their own blood and as wine.
MEMORIZE: PROVERBS 18:10 –The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
