WE SHALL OVERCOME

READ: 1 JOHN 3:18-24
Many people seem to find it difficult to establish contact with God. They act as though God is a million miles away. Like the Apostle John, I know that I can reach God anytime because He dwells in my heart. “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.” (1 John 3:24). God wants to dwell in His people. This is a mystery, a wonderful and exciting thing to contemplate. The Almighty God is looking for a house in which to dwell. He has chosen you and me as His place of residence. This should give us unspeakable joy. Imagine that you receive a letter informing you that the president of your country is coming to visit you; how would you feel? Very excited, I believe. Now, imagine that you received a letter that the Almighty God is planning to come and spend the day with you at home; what would be your reaction? Would it excite you? Would it make you want to get busy and prepare for the visit of the King of kings and the LORD of Lords? A person born of God would be sinless. He would be as pure as light and be an over-comer of the world. No doubt, there are many forces in the world trying to crush and destroy Christians. We know that we are fighting against countless spiritual enemies who are determined that we shall not succeed. Certainly, these powers are out to cut our lives short and rob us of our victory for the sake of the Kingdom of God. However, the Bible tells us that if we are truly born-again, of God, rather than the world and Satan overcoming us, instead of our being enveloped by the forces of darkness, we will overcome them. The reason why we overcome is that we have no affinity with them. The God whom we serve shall grant us victory over the kingdom of darkness. Yes, we shall overcome by the blood of the Lamb.
MEMORIZE: 1 JOHN 3:24 –Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
