SAMUEL 15:15-22
Those who would
not serve God would serve the devil. Evil spirits will indwell those who reject
the Holy Spirit. Nature abhors vacuum. Those who refuse to dine on God’s table
will eat on the altar of the devil. When the Holy Spirit came upon King Saul,
he became a prophet. When the Holy Spirit left him, he was worse off. 1 Samuel
16:14 says: “But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit
from the LORD troubled him.” When the Holy Spirit leaves anyone, the
person does not remain empty: demons move in to take the place left vacant by
the Holy Spirit. If you are a minister of God and still toy with sin, you are
playing with fire as all those demons you have encountered will come and pay
you a visit immediately the Holy Spirit leaves you. To remain a minister of God
you must let holiness be your watch word. Once you get hooked up to god’s
blessings, do not ever get separated from Him-the source of al your blessings.
Getting separated means inviting trouble to come in. This is particularly true
of those of us who are ministers of God. We must remember always the story of
Lot. As Abraham received spectacular blessings from God he took Lot with him
and both of them began to prosper. After some time, however, Lot’s herdsmen
started fighting those of Abraham. When Abraham suggested that they should
separate, Lot agreed. This brought about the division of the land and, in this
again; Lot chose the better portions of the land for himself. Do you know that
certain curses do not act immediately? This is the kind of curse that worked in
Lot’s life. Lot went to Sodom and Gomorrah and prospered there. However, on the
day he left Sodom, he left without anything apart from his wife and two
daughters. As they left, his wife looked back and became a pillar of salt, as
she had acted contrary to the advice of the angels leading them out (Genesis
19:26). The worst happened when Lot put his two daughters in the family way. If
you prosper in evil deeds, you must remember the story of Lot. The mill of God
grinds slowly but surely. Though hand joins in hand, the sinner shall no go
unpunished. If you sow wild oats you will never reap wheat. A word is enough
for the wise.
