READ: COLOSSIANS
1:16-18
The best
thing that can happen to a mortal is to be given the privilege of walking with
the Almighty. Generally, men crave for close interaction with VIPs and
celebrities. Therefore, a lot of people are ready to do anything in order to
fraternise with those who have unfettered access to the corridors of power.
Having a relationship with God surpasses having a relationship with the
president of the richest country in the world. Genesis 17:1 says “...walk
before Me and be blameless.” “Before me” signifies the existence of a
partnership between you and God, with the two of you headed on a journey together.
It also means that both of you are into a joint venture. The Bible says: “For
we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.”
(1 Corinthians 3:9). In Matthew 11:29-30, Jesus Christ says, “Take
My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls.” His yoke is easy and His burden
weightless because He is carrying the burden, anyway. As the Lord moves on
ahead of you, you must follow Him faithfully. This implies never forgetting
that God is the leader, the senior partner in your partnership with Him. One
must admit this is never easy to do, especially when success creeps in. When
this happens, human beings usually tend towards independence, even up to the
point of wanting to free ourselves of this partnership with God; and rather
than walk before Him, we would seek to walk beside Him, even attempting to rub
shoulders with Him! It is at this point that we begin to see man’s sinful
nature on display, but the truth remains that we can never be equal with God,
as Colossians 1:16-17 says: “For by Him all things were created that are
in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or
dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and
for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”
If you remain under God’s leadership, your physical and spiritual dreams will
come true.
