READ: 1 CORINTHIANS
6:14-18
You cannot
play games with God and get away with it. The most intelligent of men can be
deceived, but the Bible tells us that God cannot be mocked. What you shovel to
God is what He shovels back at you. We are often quick at shifting blames on
God. Whenever something is not working fine we try to give the false impression
that we are doing our best, only that we can’t understand why things are going
the wrong way. Unfortunately, many are being mocked because there is no trace
of God’s goodness in them. But why should a true child of God become an object
of ridicule? Why are people still mocking us? Why are people still asking,
“Where is your God?” why are they asking, “Is your God asleep?” We know that
the One whom we serve neither sleeps nor slumbers. If so, why are they asking
you, “Is your God on vacation?” God is everywhere. He is never on holiday.
Could it be that we have not met all His conditions as stated in our text? One
American preacher once asked me what gave me the boldness to call God, “Daddy.”
I told him it was because He is my Daddy. I asked him to emulate me. He said he
could not because he felt so filthy. I like honest men. God also loves honest
people. If you want to call Him “Daddy”, you have to meet the conditions He has
laid down for this. One young man in the ministry was given a motorcycle to
enhance his work. He soon had an accident with the motorcycle. I went to greet
him and asked God why such a worker should be involved in an accident. The
young man said he went to do follow-up but God said he was not telling the
truth. I asked him for the truth and he confessed to me that he was coming from
a brothel. God will not accept a mixture of water and fire, or light and
darkness. It is either you are fire all the way or water all the way. A
combination will not work.
MEMORIZE:
2 CORINTHIANS 6:14 –Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For
what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has
light with darkness?
