EXPOSING THE UNKNOWN

READ: 1 KINGS 17:1-3
The only introduction we are given of Elijah, is contained in verse one of our reading. He came from a humble home and his parents were so insignificant in Gilead that God did not even bother to mention their names. Other major Prophets such as Isaiah, the son of Amos, Jeremiah the son of Libnah and Ezekiel the son of Buzi, were introduced by their father’s names. This only reveals one of the working of the Holy Spirit –to make the unknown to be known. Are you considered insignificant in your village, office or where you are? The Lord knows you. By the time He is through with you, you will become very popular.
“But seek you first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)
What the world has failed to realise is that the fame, popularity, power, prestige and wealth they have been fighting and killing one another for, which has also hindered many of them from truly following Jesus Christ are adequately provided for in the Gospel. You would be amazed to know the covenants many people made with Satan just to have a few years of power, riches and fame. Equally surprising are the terrible consequences they are prepared to undergo for a moment’s pleasure.
Ironically, those in the Gospel of Jesus have these blessings in full doses with peace. They reign as kings here over physical, material and spiritual situations. They just serve God and the Lord rewards them faithfully. Beyond this, they will co-reign with Jesus Christ over the earth for 1000 years as spiritual and political leaders under the best theocratic government ever known in the history of this world. By then most of the known world leaders would have gone into oblivion. Thereafter, they will reign for the rest of eternity with Jesus in a reign that never ends, when death has no more place in God’s plan. Then, many of us who are unknown today will be the most popular for all eternity, the time that matters most. I would rather stick with my Jesus till the end and partake of this blessedness than go after the limited pleasures the present world system can offer. What about you?
MEMORIZE: 1 KINGS 3:15 –And I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches, and honor; so that there shall be any among the kings like to you all your days.
