EPHESIANS 4:26-31
David was a
distinguished man of war. He was the one the Lord used in silencing the
greatest threat to Israel, Goliath. When Satan moved King Saul through envy to
hunt David’s life, he fled. He ran to Samuel but when Saul followed him there
and persisted, he kept running until he ended up in the camp of the enemies.
The giant killer ran from Saul not because of fear, but because he could not imagine himself fighting against Saul, an anointed of God. That brother or leader in your parish, area or province that is vehemently persecuting you is not your enemy. Do not retaliate. Your fight is against Satan and his cohorts not against your brethren. Even when they yield themselves to Satan, the Lord will deliver you from every plan against your life. You will outlive your prosecutors. As long as you are on the Lord’s side, no one, and nothing, can stop you!
When David got to the camp of the enemy, he had to feign madness to escape being killed. He is not alone in this. Abraham the father of faith whose faith was stretched beyond its limits, in a moment of doubt laughed at God’s promise (Genesis 17:15-17). The mighty leader, Moses who spoke with God face to face in a moment of discouragement in Numbers 11:14-15, asked God to kill him. Elijah who called fire down and shut the windows of Heaven over the land for three and half years in his moment of despair asked God to kill him. Even John the Baptist doubted his call when things became too hot.
Are you going through a state of despair, confusion or discouragement? Do not give up. Are you doubting or even questioning whether it was God who called you or not, or whether you have made a wrong decision to go on full time service for the Lord? Be not discouraged. The One who sent you on that mission is with you even in your time of difficulty. Moments of despair are meant to uncover what you are made of, the genuineness of faith in God, whether you will rely on your limited strength or on the Lord. Look up to the Lord today and He will make a way for you.
