There are all
sorts of voices in the world. Whether saved or not, you would daily hear
different voices. As an unbeliever, you will hear either your conscience or the
voice of lust. It is only mad people that constantly hear from the devil. Satan
can speak to children of God in two ways: either through a small voice to the
spirit on man because he is a spirit or through a human being. Once in a while
he can change himself into an angel of light and come to speak to you in a
dream. This may be by appearing like your mother-in-law, to fight you and when
you wake up, you would begin to think that it is your mother-in-law who wants
to tear your home apart. No, it is the devil.
In Luke 2:1-7, Satan who has been expecting the birth of the Saviour over-heard Angel Gabriel breaking the Good news to Mary. Then he carefully planned to kill Jesus, before He grew up to fulfil God’s purpose of saving the world. Satan told Herod that another king, a rival who might topple him, has been born. He asked him go ahead and kill children below two years, expecting that in the process the Lord will be killed.
How has the devil been speaking to you? Do you receive all dreams as true? There are several manipulations in the spiritual realm. You will need the gift of discerning of spirits, constant watchfulness and prayer, to discern if your attacker is actually the human face you see in dream. You can uncover the camouflage or veil over the face of the oppressor through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
In any case, never obey the voice of Satan. Deliberately rebel against all his suggestions and prompting. If you obey God, you cannot obey the devil at the same time. Listen to the Lord and discard the voice of the devil. Jesus says, my sheep hear my voice. The voice you hear frequently will determine who your father is: whether God or Satan.
