READ: 1 CORINTHIANS 6:14-18
In the physical realm, men and women are willing to put in great sacrifices in order to cope with the demands of their callings or professions. A medical doctor spent several years in training and is always ready to be called to duty, even in the midnight. The divine call is one which outweighs secular calls in glory and honour. As believers, we are called unto holiness. The God of heaven and earth has called to be partakers of His divine nature. He has called us to be holy as He is holy. The Bible says in Matthew 5:48 “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” As a child of God you are the bride of Jesus. You must be holy to be the wife of the King of kings. Once you are holy you will be qualified to sit beside the King and behold Him in his radiant splendour. The fact that the sanctified wife is always beside the king shows us that the standard expected of her must be very high, for several reasons. For instance, if you can get the favourite wife of the king to co-operate with you in your bid to kill the king, the king is as good as dead. The favourite wife knows everything about the king. Thus the king has to be sure that his favourite wife is absolutely loyal. She has to be one with the king in inspiration, hope, ambition, and in every thing. If you want to be God’s favourite, you have to be as perfect even as He is perfect. In 1 Peter 1:15-16, the Bible says: “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, Be holy, for I am holy.” You are to be holy because God is holy. In John 14:30, Jesus Christ said: “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” God wants us to be perfect like Jesus Christ. You have to be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect. Are you living according to the standard of holiness? Examine yourself.
