THE ALMIGHTY

READ: 1 PETER 5:1-11
Many people take God for granted because He appears slow in unleashing judgment on offenders. God can never make mistakes. He knows what we do not know and knows what is best for us. He has been in the beginning and He will also be at the end. He is Alpha and the Omega. Proverbs 19:21 says, “There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the LORD’s counsel-that will stand.” Man proposes while God disposes. He is the Supreme One who can lay you aside when you have a faithless walk with Him. In 1 Corinthians 9:27, Paul says: “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” One may still be called a pastor even long after the Lord has left him. King Saul was still on the throne even though God had left him a long time back. However, if you behave yourself and the Almighty finds you faithful, then Heaven is your limit. An unimaginable promotion awaits any faithful partner with God. Rather than nominal promotion, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are manifestations of the real promotion. In the Bible, we are told that Deacon Stephen performed signs and wonders among the disciples. He was never called an apostle but the apostles respected him. Likewise, there may exist in the church some ordinary workers who are spiritually far higher than the pastor. 1 Peter 5:6 says: “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” How high a man can lift you depends n the length of his arms, and probably legs, too. When the Almighty God lifts you, the One who sits on the throne and His feet touch the earth; you can imagine how high you can rise when you consider the length of His legs (Isaiah 66:1). This is why the Bible says He gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). Beloved, we are dealing with the God of the Universe, the only One who is unlimited in power, wisdom and ability. If you become His favourite today the sky wouldn’t even be your limit.
