GOD’S REPRESENTATIVE

READ: 2 KINGS 6:1-7
Your attitude to the representative of the Almighty will either hasten or delay your miracles. If a representative stands in for the Almighty, he carries the totality of the authority, the power and the might of Heaven. Today, let us close in on the part played by a representative of the Almighty (that is, a man of God). According to the story, the axe-head was lost and the man who lost the axe-head called on the man of God to help because the axe was borrowed. The man of God asked for where it fell and he took over from there. He cut a stick, threw it into the river and something unexpected happened: the iron came up and began to swim. The first thing to look at in this verse is, “And the man of God said”. This phrase did not say, “And Elisha said”. There is difference between “Elisha” and “the man of God”. The man of God here means the representative of God. When a man of God acts in his official capacity, he is acting on behalf of God. In Matthew 10:40, Jesus Christ said something: “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.” When you act as a representative of Jesus Christ, you have Jesus and God the Father backing you. In Matthew 10:41, the Bible says: “He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet‘s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of the righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.” If you relate with a man of God as a representative of God, you will receive the reward that only the One who sent him can give you. The expression, “man of God”, in the Old Testament, is equally used to mean a servant of God. For example, it is used in Joshua 8:31 where Moses is called the servant of God. However, as wonderful as it is t be a man of God, there is something far better than being a servant of God. Becoming a child of God is a glorious experience. According to John 1:11-12, the Bible says: “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. ” The devil has children of his own, too. How do we then know a child of God? In John 4:24, the Bible says, “God is Spirit”. Anyone who wishes to become a child of God must be born of the Spirit. This is why John 3:5-7 says you must be born-again. When you become born-again, you are born of the Spirit and you can now claim to be a child of God.
MEMORIZE: MATTHEW 10:40 –He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.
