SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH

READ: MARK 5:1-16
A believer who after several years of confessing Christ is still rising and falling; the one whose spiritual life has remained lukewarm; the person who is possessed and controlled by demons; the ministry that has refused to grow; the individual family or community under the siege of demonic bondage are all candidates for a spiritual breakthrough. Our reading today reveals a man who was possessed by over a 1000 demons. His will and senses had been completely taken over by the demons as they led him to places he naturally would not have gone, to do things he normally would not do. He would climb mountains, use sharp stones to tear his body. He was driven to make the cemetery his permanent residence!
To help him, those who knew him before the demons invaded him would organise and set a trap for him and after apprehending him, they would use heavy chains to bind him to prevent him from destroying himself. The demons in him would rebel and empower him to break the chains like tiny threads, and continue his assignment day and night, without rest.
Some people still use chains on demon-possessed people. You cannot bind demons with physical chains. But one day Jesus arrived in the city and even though he was still far off, the demons knew their days were over. The man ran to Jesus and worshipped him and received his breakthrough. Jesus cast out the demons into some nearby swine. The man was now normal and in his right mind and put on his clothes and became a living testimony.
A city under a curse for several years until the God of breakthrough came and liberated the people (2 Kings 2:19-22). Elisha used to be a wealthy man, but thirsted for the power that was greater than financial power. One day, the God of breakthrough visited him and gave him a double portion of the anointing of Elijah.
Your case cannot be worse than that of the Gadarene demoniac. If God could give him breakthrough, then God will surely give you your breakthrough from demonic oppression. God will give you the anointing you desire. Only come to him in faith and meet his conditions.
MEMORIZE: PSALM 61:11 –God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that belongs to God.
