3:12-15
Man is free
moral agent capable of making his own choices and taking responsibility for
them. It would have been easy for God to programme us as robots, but he chose
not to impose himself on human will. He allowed man to retain his will, able to
make whatever decision suits him. Life is a game of choices. Your destiny is
determined by the choices you make. When it comes to making a choice out of the
available options, you are at a crossroad. The moment you choose, things begin
to happen in quick succession. You have to be very careful in making a choice.
You need divine guidance and you must adopt the right set of yardsticks in
taking that decision.
In Deuteronomy 30:19-20, God puts before you life and death. Everyone who comes into this world must choose whether to accept or reject God’s offer of salvation. This decision is a life or death affair, and determines one’s eternal end, whether heaven or hell. Choose this day whom you will serve! Have you made a choice for Jesus? Having become a believer in Christ, you will be confronted with the valley of decision in different areas. Hebrews 11:24-26 says that as a growing prince, Moses had to choose between remaining a Prince in Egypt and becoming a slave for God. Moses chose the latter. That choice made him a fugitive for 40 years. Thereafter, he became a god to Pharaoh. Today he is recognised in Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
Esther had to choose between identifying with the Israelites and remaining a queen. She chose the former, which portended destruction, yet she and her people were saved. In 1979, I had to choose between being with my dying mother and attending a congress. I chose the latter and my mother lived for another 11 years. Also in 1981, I had to choose between being with my son, who was very ill, and going to preach. I committed him unto God’s hands and went to preach. He lived and wed in 1995. Any choice you make for God will be rewarded. Come out of your comfort zone and take that decision for the Lord now. He is very faithful. He will stand by you.
