FAMILY CURSES

READ: GENESIS 31:30-35
Nothing happens by chance. Certain laws and principles control what goes on in both the physical and the spiritual realm. Therefore, if you violate a particular law, you will reap the consequences. Since these laws govern the universe, any mistake on your part will bring stiff penalties into your life. The issue of curses is so greatly important that you would remain under its influence unless you address the root of the curse. I have discovered that the curses in the lives of people can be tagged family curses. These types of curses are stubborn to deal with until the victim comes under the influence of an anointed man of God. Parents can curse their children. A husband can also curse his wife, and it would work if she does something deserving of a curse. 1 Corinthians 11:3 states clearly that, “But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” A husband has authority over his wife. There is an example in Genesis 31:30-35. Jacob was running away with his two wives, Rachel and Leah, from Laban. Unknown to him, Rachel had stolen the idols of Laban. Laban caught up with them and accused them of stealing his idols. Jacob denied the accusation. He said that Laban should search them and that anyone found to have stolen the idol would die. Meanwhile, Rachel sat on the idols. While Laban searched, Rachel said she could not stand up to be searched because she was having her monthly period. Laban left without finding his idols. The consequence of Jacob’s curse is recorded in Genesis 35:16-19, “Then they journeyed from Bethel. And when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel travailed in childbirth and she had hard labor. Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Do not fear, you will have this son also. And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-Oni, but his father called him Benjamin. So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).” Rachael did not survive her pregnancy, after the curse. If you fail to deal with curses placed on your life, mysterious things may continue to happen to you. The Bible says: “And surely I will constrain you so that you cannot turn from one side to another till you have ended the days of your siege.” (Ezekiel 4:8). Do not joke with curses. Deal with them.
MEMORIZE: GENESIS 35:18 –Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Do not fear, you will have this son also. And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-Oni, but his father called him Benjamin.
