BEYOND POLITICAL POWER

READ: ACTS 1:1-8
Beyond detailing the move of the Holy Ghost in the lives of Peter, James, John and Paul, the book of Acts could contain more chapters including your name and mine. The fact that there is no ‘Amen’ shows that Acts has not ended. Depending on your walk with the Holy Ghost, who is the central figure, you could even have a whole chapter devoted to yourself. Are you one of God’s movers and shakers? My name is there!
Jesus promised his disciples power. Shortly before he ascended, after his resurrection, he told them to “... wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, you have heard from Me” (verse 4). At the time, the Israelites were under Roman rule, so the disciples asked Jesus if he was going to liberate Israel from the Roman government, and give them political posts. But he said that the power they were soon to receive was more than political power. Praise God!
Many Christians who claim to have received the baptism of the Holy Ghost are still oblivious of their new potential. This is superior power. We know that the spiritual controls the physical. For instance, Zechariah 4:6 talks of levelling mountains by the power of the Holy Ghost, where human strength has failed.
If you read through the Scriptures, you will discover that those who possessed spiritual power were the real rulers of their day. They were feared and obeyed. Their word was law. Kings trembled before them. Consider the lives of Samuel, Elijah and Elisha. The kings who reigned during Elisha’s time called him ‘Daddy’. Elijah entered the king’s palace and decreed that there would be no rain until he said so, and so it was. The king and his soldiers, his governors and ministers could not do anything about it. You, too, can possess their power to control lives, communities and nations.
You too can continue the book of the Acts. But first you have to give up any substandard or demonic power you have and give your life to Jesus. Then ask him in faith for the Holy Ghost.
MEMORIZE: PSALM 60:12 –Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies.
