DEUTERONOMY 8:1-3
God
promised Abraham seven great blessings and asked him to fulfil three
conditions. Without Abraham meeting the conditions to leave his country, his
kindred and his father’s house, God’s promises would have remained in the realm
of promises: they would never have been fulfilled. Most of God’s promises to us
today are also hinged on our meeting certain conditions. In Genesis 12:4-5,
Abraham left his country and his father’s house. However, he failed to leave
his kindred as he took Lot with him. For not obeying God completely, his
blessings became troubles. He met with famine in Canaan, which was supposed to
be a land flowing with milk and honey. Disobedience can turn your blessings
into curses.
King Saul was asked to wait for seven days for Samuel to come and offer a particular sacrifice. He waited, but when Samuel did not come at the appointed time, he took upon himself and offered the sacrifice. Then Samuel arrived. God said that sacrifice should have helped to seal up and establish his kingdom, but because of his disobedience, he had lost the kingdom to someone else.
Half-obedience is synonymous with disobedience. God still gives a chance to the disobedient to see if they will repent. He will do his best to help unless a case is beyond assistance. Your case shall not be beyond assistance, in Jesus’ Name. At another time, God sent King Saul to destroy the Amalekites without sparing anything or anyone. No spoil was to be taken, because God had cursed everything there. But Saul used his discretion and modified God’s commands. How do you respond to God’s instructions today? Are you like Saul, or do you obey completely?
All instructions God has given to you should be obeyed absolutely. It is this complete obedience that compels God to take seriously any promise he has made to you. God will fulfil all he has spoken concerning you. Being a child of Abraham, you shall be great. Your second name shall be Greatness. You shall be a channel of blessings to millions. You shall become stronger, mightier and greater every day! The secret is obeying God totally.
