YOUR LOT?

READ: 1PETER 4:1-5
“For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: ‘That You may be justified in Your words, and may overcome when You are judged.’” (Romans 3:3-4). God is ever true. He stands by anything he says he will do. He watches over his Word to perform it in your life. When God asks you not to commit adultery, it is for your own good. He does not have a wife he hopes to protect by such a command.
Due to disobedience, Abraham lost his wife to Pharaoh. Yet God decided to help him. In Genesis 12:17-20, God sent trouble into Pharaoh’s household and realising the cause, Pharaoh sent Sarah back to Abraham. In spite of this, Abraham still continued in disobedience by further taking lot with him (Genesis 13:1). “And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.” (Genesis 13:7).
God clearly instructed Abraham to leave his country, father’s house and his kindred. He obeyed the first two but took his kindred, Lot with him. The presence of lot brought trouble to him. Who is Lot in your life today? It could be that housemaid, if she is trying hard to steal your heart from your wife. Lot may be the unequal yoke with that unbeliever you intend marrying. Lot could be the mind-set you have been developed in time past which is contrary to God’s Word.
Imagine somebody saying to a lady he is proposing to marry, ‘In my family, you have to conceive first before I can marry you.’ And imagine so-called believers in that family still conforming to such methods and thereby engaging in premarital sex. That Lot can ruin you completely. Put away every Lot in your life. Until you do that, your progress is at a standstill. In fact, in some cases, until you make the necessary restitution and put off that second wife, you cannot please God and heaven will be a mirage.
MEMORIZE: GENESIS 13:7 –And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.
