GOOD FINISHING

READ: JOB 14:7-9
When David sent the first stone into Goliath’s forehead, he fell flat on the ground. But David did not stop there. He ensured that he cut off Goliath’s head to put him beyond recovery. That is wisdom. Sometimes after casting the first stone, you may have to throw more stones to bring down your Goliath. Each stone weakens him until he finally crumbles. But do not rest until you finish him off.
“For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground, yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant.” (Job 14:7-9). If you leave your enemy half-dead, he will definitely recover with time, reinforce and launch a fatal attack on you. This is why you must not rest on your oars until you cut off his head, to assure you of a final victory. This means you should not stop at asking for healing of that ailment but that you should enjoy divine health for the rest of your life. Do not stop at asking God to clear your debts, but that he takes you to a level where you will never borrow again but become a lender to nations.
“And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” (2 Corinthians 5:15). Satan is not your greatest enemy – your flesh is. It is your flesh that stands between you and God’s will. It is your flesh that is enemy within, working hand-in-hand with the devil to destroy you. Hence, in dealing with the flesh, ensure it is crucified with Christ, so that it does not lift up its ugly head again (Galatians 2:20). Only after this will you be able to live effectively and faithfully unto the One who died for you.
What is that loophole through which Satan still penetrates your life today? Ensure this moment that it is completely blocked off. Greed, selfishness, disobedience, masturbation, lustful thoughts, lies, unforgiveness are all in-roads through which Satan can penetrate your life to do havoc. Ask the blood of Jesus to completely eradicate them from your life today.
MEMORIZE: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:15 –And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
