A TAIL UNDER THE ALMIGHTY HEAD

READ: EXODUS 10:21-23
“He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).
If you take refuge under God’s shadow, no evil can find you. You will be lost in safety. Let’s note one or two things about a shadow. First, whenever there is a shadow, the owner of that shadow is near by. You can never obtain a shadow from an intangible object –e.g. air. Wherever your shadow is, there you are. You cannot be separated from your shadow. In essence, this means God is present where His shadow is. Another fact about a shadow is that its size is always proportional to its owner. Compared to men or anything else on earth, God’s shadow is so mighty. One of the plagues in Egypt was tick darkness. Darkness is of varying degrees just as light is of varying degrees. God plagued Egypt with one of the higher levels of darkness which was in a physical form as to be felt. That darkness pinned everybody to the same position for three days. It filled everywhere and occupied the space except the air space. This is something like the shadow of the Almighty. God’s shadow can be felt.
The most secure place for a defenceless widow is under the roof of the Judge as stated in Luke 18:1-8. When Elijah went to stay with the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:8-15, the widow needed help, not Elijah. If Elijah had tarried for some days before coming, the woman and her son would have died. This means it was the widow and her son who were actually residing under the spiritual cover of Elijah. In the same way, the best place for the helpless is under the shadow of the Almighty. Even a tail can abide under the shadow of a mighty head. An example of this is that the tail of a lion cannot be afraid of dogs. Hence in 1 Samuel 22:1-2, when the distressed, debtors, frustrated people and the hopeless came under the captainship of David in the cave of Adullam, they became safe. They were saying, Every creditor who wanted to recover his debts from them would first have to contend with David the giant killer. They were tails who knew how to hide under a mighty head. If you can pitch your tent under the shadow of the Almighty you will be secure forever. Everyone contending with you will automatically have God to contend with. As you come under His cover, never allow anything to draw you out of His presence. If Satan or the lust of flesh takes you out of God’s presence, you will be easily preyed upon. Stay with God!
MEMORIZE: PSALM 27:2 –When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
