SURE MEANS OF PERFECTION

READ: HEBREWS 2:9-10
If you can belong to Jesus, you will let Him live His life through you according to Galatians 2:20-21. That divine life will shake the foundations of your sinful life, and pattern your words, desires and actions after Him. To do this, you will have to yield yourself, your desires and sinful pleasures to Him and clear the throne of your heart for Jesus to become the Lord of your life. As you do so, your life will not be the same again.
God wants you to be as perfect as He is. If He loves you, He will commence the process of making you perfect. Once He has made up His mind to take you to heaven, He will do everything necessary to ensure you get there. How will God make you perfect? Through suffering. “But we see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man” (Hebrews 2:9). One most effective means of perfection is suffering. It never fails. According to Hebrews 5:8-9, that was the route Jesus followed before He became perfect. It is one route many Christians will not want to take yet they want to be perfect.
To be perfect, be ready for divine pressure. If God leaves you to do what you like, you will end up in hell. But James 1:2-4 says you should be jubilant when your faith is being tried because it is working for you, not against you. Why does God allow suffering, problems, tribulation and real pressure on those He wants to perfect? Pressure reveals hidden faults, and wrong motives and agendas. A Yoruba adage says, When fire falls on you and your children, you will first remove it from your body. Before pressure is applied, you will say you love Jesus to the point of dying for Him. But if the government decrees that nobody should call the name of Jesus again, then you will discover how many can truly die for the Lord like Peter and the Apostle of old. Any divine pressure or trial of faith is for your good. Ask for grace to come out stronger than you were before the trial. Ask God to make you perfect through suffering like He did your Master Jesus.
MEMORIZE: HEBREWS 2:10 –For it became Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
