BATTLE READY

READ: 2CORINTHIANS10:1-4
There are no questions as regards the act that we are fighting a spiritual battle. The moment we become born-again, the battle begins. We were slave before slaves before but now we are free. It is natural, therefore, for the slave owner to strive to keep his slaves. A battle is different from a tournament. In a tournament, we have a loser and a winner. In a battle, however, it is not just a question of the winner and a loser but a fight to finish. The one who wins either kills the opponent or makes the opponent a prisoner. The enemy we face is not a joker. The devil is not a funny creature. In John 10:10, the Bible says: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” This is no laughing matter. The devil has a goal. When you are preparing for a battle, therefore, it should not be handled with levity. Preparation for battle is a serious business. This is why the Bible advises us in Ephesians 6:11 that we should put on the whole armour of God. Who is the enemy that we are fighting? Our major enemy is the devil. 1 Peter 5:8 says: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” The devil is the captain of his own team. He has a very well organized team: principalities, powers, wicked spirits, territorial spirits, etc. to win a battle, one has to know certain things. The first thing to note is the sort of weapon to use. As far as Satan is concerned, he uses all kinds of weapons. The forces of darkness that that we face are spiritual. So we can only fight them with spiritual weapons. The Bible says: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” God has given mighty spiritual weapons to every believer. This implies that we all have to be battle-ready at all times. The motto of all heaven-bound saints is: Be prepared.
MEMORIZE: JOHN 10:10 –The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
