THE FEAR OF GOD

READ: REVELATION3:14-18
Our text, today, reveals that nothing is ever hidden from God. God sees beyond the skin-deep type of righteousness. You can pretend before men but never before the all-seeing eyes of the Almighty. If you are ever going to make heaven, you must accord a very important place to the fear of God in your heart. This is not slavish fear. Remember, God is your Father. He loves you, but Exodus 15:11 says: “Who is like You, O LORD, among he gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” Even when you praise God it is better to do it with an element of fear. Secondly, you must sincerely admit your fault. In John 9:40-41, Jesus told the Pharisees: “Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, Are we blind also? Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have n sin; but now you say, We see. Therefore your sin remains.” We always say in Mathematics that the problem that is well defined is half solved. In other words, if you can locate your problem, the solution is on the way. To say that you have no problem is to prolong your suffering. Many of us believe that because we are prospering, we do not have any problems any more. Others believe that since door are opening for them everywhere, their problems have been solved. God said, in Revelation 3:14-18, that material prosperity is not substitute for communion with God or substitute for anointing. The moment you think you are rich enough and have need for nothing, you begin a journey into the land of spiritual and material poverty. The moment you are no longer dependent on God, you become wretched, miserable and poor. Never estimate yourself. See yourself the way God sees you. Depend on God’s grace. Do not dress yourself in borrowed robes. Call a spade a spade.
MEMORIZE: HEBREWS4:13-And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
