READ: PROVERBS 10:24-30
In 1 Samuel 24:16-22,
after David spoke softly to king Saul, it appeared the latter came to his
senses and acknowledged the fact that David rewarded his evil with good. By
this statement, king Saul had passed judgement on himself. Some curses need not
be pronounced. They will pronounce themselves. Proverbs 17:13 says, “Whoso
rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.” After
this, Saul prayed for God to reward David. When your enemy prays for you, then
you are in for something great. This is what meekness can do. It is normal for
God to reward the righteous and keep him from evil (Proverbs 12:21).
If you are living a life that pleases God, no evil will come near you. If it does, you need to take sometime off to examine yourself and see what has gone wrong. Another reward for the righteous is the law of substitution. Proverbs 11:8 says, “The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked comes in his stead.” This means, if an evil had been programmed to occur in a particular place, at a given time, and a righteous man unknowingly walks into the scene, one way or another he would be substituted with an evil person. God will substitute you in every place evil has been programmed against you. No evil will befall you or your family this year.
King Saul confessed to David that he will surely become what he himself has been trying to prevent – a king. When your enemy tells you he knows you are going to rule, he is being used to confirm what has already been settled in Heaven. With his mouth, Saul the oppressor confessed his fears about David, his victim. He acknowledged Isaiah 54:17 concerning him, saying no weapon devised against David will prosper. He confessed that the kingdom will be established in the hands of David, etc. Do you know your enemies are afraid of you? They are threatened by your existence and presence hence the persecution against you. The level of their oppression is an expression of the degree to which they are afraid of you. It is wrong to be afraid of those who fear you. Are you seriously chased by king Saul? Rejoice. Just pray that the fears of your enemies about you should be realized. Say Amen to their fears and it will be so.
