READ: 1 SAMUEL 24:1-7
King Saul continued to
pursue David until one day he entered a particular cave to have a nap. He did
not know that David and his men were inside the cave. David’s men rejoiced that
at last God has delivered Saul into their hands, but David refused to touch him
because he is God’s anointed. All those enemies that have been chasing and
oppressing you would soon be at your mercy. David had opportunity of killing
Saul, but he refused because he knew that God has not left the judgement of His
anointed in the hands of anyone. God is always very jealous about His anointed
ones.
“He suffered no man to do them wrong. Yea, He reproved kings for their sakes; saying, Touch not Mine anointed, and do My prophets no harm.” (Psalm 105:14-15)
If a pastor or minister of God is misbehaving, pray for him. You can also report him to his superior. In addition, you can report him to the One who ordained him. It is not your assignment to attack him. Jude 9 says, “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, dare not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke you.” Angel Michael could not rebuke Satan himself, recalling the fact that he was once an anointed cherub. He transferred Satan’s judgement to the One who anointed him.
Does this mean children of God cannot rebuke Satan? We are not angels. Being sons of the Most High, we are higher than angels hence we are authorised to cast out demons and rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus Christ (Luke 10:17-20). But when it comes to an erring minister of God, that is beyond your boundary. Revelation 1:16, 20 says that pastors are the stars in the hands of the Almighty God. If they misbehave, all God has to do is to close His hands and they are dead. If your son misbehaves, you will discipline him because you have authority to do so. But if you see a boy on the road misbehaving greatly, you will leave him to his parents to deal with because you do not have jurisdiction there. The anointed of God is beyond your jurisdiction. By the time you take it upon yourself to attack him, you will be violating the Scriptures you are trying to enforce and lots of negative reprisals will come to you. In any way you have erred, in this regard, repent and restitute.
