‘ELIJAH’ AT LAST

READ: LUKE 1:31-33
Elijah confronted the prophets of Baal to call on their god to bring down fire. When they could not, he repaired the broken altar, placed a sacrifice on it and said a simple prayer. Then the fire fell. When the people saw this, they fell on their faces having seen the proof of God’s power and presence. They cried, ‘Jehovah is God.’ Coincidentally, ‘Elijah’ means ‘Jehovah is God.’ Finally, ‘Elijah’ came to pass in the life time of Elijah. May every good name you bear come to pass.
The name you bear is important to God. Why? A name is a prophecy that will be fulfilled. If yours is a negative prophecy, better do something about it now. A name sets a goal for the bearer. A name also sets a height to be attained or a depth to descend to. A name is a commander of forces depending on the deity to which it is attached. If it is tied to the Almighty God, it will attract the heavenly hosts. But if it is linked to Satan or local deity, it will automatically command the following of negative forces and events. Your name plays a significant role in your destiny. Some names are destiny builders, while some are destiny destroyers. Some are God-friendly while others are Satan-friendly.
“But the angel said to him, fear not, Zachariah for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name John” (Luke 1:13).
Some names are from Heaven. Psalm 127:3 says children are God’s heritage. Before they are born, God had already given them the names that will enable them fulfil their destiny on earth. If godly parents can take time to ask the Lord, the names of their babies will be released. If Heaven fails to name your child, either Satan or man will. Never tie the name of your child to a given circumstance except it is a positive one. What is your name? What does it mean? To whom is it tied (dedicated), God or Satan ?
Does it set a higher target for you to attain? Is your name standing as a hindrance or facilitator to your destiny? Have a name-change where necessary.
MEMORIZE: PHILIPPIANS 2:9 –Wherefore God also has exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name.
