PETER'S BREAKTHROUGH CHAIN

READ: LUKE 5:1-11
To qualify for a breakthrough, a sinner must surrender to the One who can give breakthroughs, the Almighty God. Breakthroughs differ one from another. There are some that will be too much for sinners. Also, it is difficult for a sinner to sustain a breakthrough. Satan will want to destroy it. It takes being born again and abiding in Christ to sustain any breakthrough. Let us take Peter for example. In our reading today, after he obeyed Jesus, Peter got his breakthrough but the nets that held the fishes began to break. That means he stood the risk of losing the fishes. But in John 21:1-11 where the same miracle was repeated, after the breakthrough, all the fishes were intact. The nets did not break because Peter was now in Christ and a servant of the Lord. Your commitment to Christ is not a waste. It will help you to secure your blessings.
Another thing about breakthrough is that one breakthrough becomes a link to some other chain of breakthroughs. Breakthrough begets breakthrough. Smaller breakthroughs lead to bigger ones. May you enter into the chain of breakthroughs from this year in Jesus name. Peter again will be our example. As a sinner, he allowed the Lord to use his boat and after that he got a breakthrough in his fishing business. What did he do next? He immediately fell at Jesus’ feet and received Him and surrendered all to the Master. That triggered a far greater breakthrough.
He landed a greater job. He moved from catching fish to fishing men. The reward for fishing one soul to Christ can never be obtained from selling one million big fishes. Because he had entered the chain of breakthroughs, he had another breakthrough of 3000 souls in one day (Acts 2:14-41). Not long after, he had another breakthrough of 5000 souls through a single message (Acts 4:4). After this, he had so much more breakthroughs of souls that they lost count. The Bible simply called it multitudes (Acts 5). In fact, it got to a time that people would pray and fast for Peter to come by their streets so that his shadow can heal them. Today, Peter has gotten the greatest breakthroughs of all; he is in Heaven. You too have been destined to enter this breakthrough chain. But if you receive one breakthrough and decide to leave the church, backslide or misbehave, you will lose the chain of breakthrough. The choice is yours today!
