When you set a spiritual
goal for yourself such as growing in the Lord to become heavily anointed and
used by God or to make heaven, Satan will put obstacles in your path and
attempt to divert your focus to distractions. Apart from this, God Himself may
test your determination to achieve that goal. Believers must be very careful
not to fall prey to the devil. He is very smart and worldly wise. Why not?
After all he has lived and interacted with God’s creation for about 6000 years.
If you live that long you will acquire so much worldly wisdom.
Of all tricks in his kitty, one he commonly uses is the hook and bait method. This is similar to the method with which we catch fishes. Satan is a master fisherman. To catch a fish, if you throw in the hook without a bait e.g. meat or something that will entice the fish, it will not come. But if you cover the hook with meat, the fish will think food has come and end up in the fisherman’s basket. Beware of the offer you get. Some job offers, contracts, partnerships, promotions, promises of security and long life are nothing but satanic baits. If you accept them, you soul will drown. Many people in search of freedom, protection, wealth and help saw secret cults as the solution ground but after joining them realized that they not only are in greater danger, but also trapped. They are threatened with death should they decide to come out. If you are in such a secret cult, come out today and give your life to Jesus. They cannot harm you because you will have someone with the greater power inside of you.
Certain seeming blessings have nothing for their recipient but destruction. When Abraham asked Lot to leave, Satan showed him the beautiful and prosperous cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. He went there with joy and over a period, he became one of their councilors. But at last he escaped with his two daughters, losing both his wife and all their wealth to the inferno. This tells us to be very careful. Some wealthy men have no future. Some parents resist God’s will for their daughters in marriage just to impose a rich suitor. Do you know if his wealth will develop wings and fly away? What informs the choice of a course or career for some students is purely how lucrative they are today. But do you know if such a course will face an uneventful future? Submit your choices and decisions to the Lord. Allow Him to guide you daily. Taking that step without God’s guidance could be taking a trip to Sodom and you may lose all you have. Submit totally to God.
