CHOSEN

READ: ROMANS 9:14-16
“For He said to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion” (Romans 9:15).
Abraham was an idol worshipper in the midst of idol worshippers when God found him. He was in no way better than others yet God singled him out of the crowd and started telling him of some place He was taking him to.  Why did God choose him? The only reason that could have informed God’s choice according to the above scripture is divine compassion. The Lord will single you out of the crowd for an uncommon blessing this season in Jesus name. The Lord will move you to a place of power and prominence not out of merit but because of His mercy.
People take too many things for granted. One of which is the fact that sleep and wake up everyday. They see it as a right but it is an act of divine compassion. I know a man who, anytime somebody dies and people look at him as if to say he is next would say, ‘There will be a long gap between the one who died and the next  to die.’ In addition, he would say, ‘It is unusual for children to die when their fathers are alive.’ But it is God who decides. Many families have grieved the loss of their children. Some accidents take the lives of whole families because the spirit of death does not realize he should space one death from another. But for God’s restraining power, death would have taken every human being.
It is the mercy of God. God is sovereign and therefore not answerable to any higher power. He is the Highest and all authority emanates from Him (Romans 13:1). Jesus came to this world to extend God’s mercy to everyone. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus offers rest to those with yokes and heavy burdens. In John 3:16, salvation from sin and eternal life are offered to all. In Isaiah 55:1, God offers you water of life freely. If salvation was to be paid for by every sinner, poverty would have robbed most people of it. Have you received all God is offering you? God is taking you out of a family to know Him like Abraham. How obedient are you to His leading? The Lord has chosen you for a purpose. Ask God to fulfil that purpose. God chose you out of divine compassion. Do not let Him regret His action.
MEMORIZE: ROMANS 9:16 –So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.
