READ: PSALM 110:3
“Your people shall be willing in the day of your
power; in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning; you have the
dew of your youth” (psalm 110:3).
One outstanding feature in the youth is their strength. 1 John 2:14 acknowledges that the youths are strong. Those of us who are becoming older will definitely agree because they would have observed that they are not agile and active as they were when they were much younger. For everyone, being a youth is a phase in which you are loaded with strength but what you channel such energies into is of paramount concern to the Lord. According to 1 John 2:13, one reason God gives strength to the youth is to enable him overcome the flesh, Satan and the evil system of the world.
Youths are recruited into the army because of their strength. Not too many old people are recruited because they lack zeal, zest, initiative, enterprising spirit, speed, energy and doggedness seen in youths. The rod of your strength is released from God’s presence during your youth. Some youths fail to realize that they have battles they must fight as youths, so they end up wasting several resources in pursuit of sinful pleasures –premarital sex, lust, drugs, unholy associations, parties, and several other goals that take them out of God’s will.
Tomorrow belongs to the youths. Satan knows that, hence he attempts to ruin them. If he succeeds in ruining the youths, the future of families is in ruins and that automatically affects the nation and the Church. The reason God endows human beings with their highest resources in their youth is because that is the most crucial time of their lives where destinies are determined. What you will become in life is determined by the number and categories of battles you are able to fight and win. David was a youth when he confronted his Goliath. You too will confront your Goliath in your youth. How prepared are you to face the battles of life ahead of you? As parents, to what extent do you assist, guide and prayerfully prepare your children for tomorrow? Are you wasting the resources God has endowed you with? Every second that passes is lost to eternity. Your youthful days should be usefully spent at God’s right hand from whence you will obtain power to rule over life’s challenges and your enemies. Don’t waste it!
