RAISING AN ARMY

READ: 2 TIMOTHY 2:1-3
“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:20).
Leading souls to Christ is a very important assignment facing us today but that’s only 5% of the work. A major aspect is teaching them to make it to heaven which takes 95% of the work. There is no resting on your oars until saved souls are cultivated, potentials are unveiled and they are assisted to know and fulfil their ministries with a commendation from the Bishop of their souls in heaven.
The Kingdom of God is spiritual military force. God is the Commander-in-Chief of the heavenly and earthly army. Each church or parish is a military base. The divisional bases are headed by Generals while each base (church) is headed by a captain and assisted by able lieutenants (ministers). The ability of the pastor to recruit and train his men up to higher officer ranks makes him a success in his assignment.
A great yardstick for measuring church growth is the ability to convert members into workers. Every church has a pastor, ministers, workers and members. Usually, unengaged members of the congregation are more. As we need more workers, the challenge is for church leaders to increase the percentage of the work force. Getting more members through believers’ class and water baptism and through workers class and raising them as ministers are the greater challenges facing pastors. Target 25% of members to become workers. Then 50%. Move on to 75% until 100% of your members are trained workers. This makes the church leader a success. A church of 1500 members, out of which 30% are workers, is less successful than a church of 80 members with 50% of them trained as workers. As a leader, you will account to God over bench warmers who are useless to God’s kingdom. Henceforth, no more seating on the bench. Arise and mobilize members to join the work force!
Parents too should mobilize every member of their families, both young and old to play active roles in God’s kingdom. Every born again Christian that is bench-warming or idle in God’s house is a curse. No soldier is recruited into idleness. Join in this operation eradicate idleness and heap great rewards for yourself.
MEMORIZE: MATTHEW 28:20 –Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.
