READ: GENESIS 3:8-12
May you never be an
average Christian. There is a great difference between average people and their
outstanding counterparts. While the outstanding people are aiming at the
highest possible level, the average people are aiming at the barest minimum.
God expects you to choose to be outstanding. That is where you belong if you
are truly a child of the King. You will be very outstanding in life in Jesus
name.
“Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakins were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said” (Joshua 14:12).
This brings us to characteristics of outstanding people. The first one is that quick to accept c hallenges. They are ready to attempt what others call impossible. They dare all odds just to record a feat in any area of their lives. Outstanding people never dread mountains. As Caleb said in the above passage, they are excited whenever they see mountains and giants. To them mountains and giants provide them opportunities to demonstrate the supremacy of the power of their God. They know that as long as they have God on their side every negative situation that confronts them must bow.
Another characteristic of outstanding people is that they are absolutely committed. One of the fundamental problems facing the Church today is lack of commitment. Committed Christians are becoming difficult to come by. Nobody wants to talk of sanctification, consecration and commitment anymore. Some say, since Jesus has fasted for us we should no longer fast. Also, rather than admit their lack of self control, poor choice and base nature, many Christians blame God or Satan for anything that goes wrong. In today’s reading, Adam held God responsible for his sin. A way of saying, If God had not given him a wife, he would not have sinned. Many Christians now blame wife-beating, gluttony, gossiping, and fornication on demons and believe deliverance will solve the matter. If you like, go for deliverance 1000 times in one month. If you cannot manifest self control, and subdue your fleshly desires, you will continue in those sins. Can God find commitment in you today?
