UNANSWERED REQUESTS

READ: 1 KINGS 19:7-8
After Elijah ate the meal the angel brought to him, he slept. He must have been very tired from the marathon. Even a divine champion needs rest sometimes. Mark 4:35-41 tells us that our Lord Jesus Christ slept in a boat when He became tired. If Jesus had need of rest, then we too must. God gave Elijah a second meal. God is the best caterer in the universe. His food is always the sweetest. According to Psalm 23:1-2, God will feed you until your want disappears. Have you made the Lord your Shepherd? If you have, I can assure you that want is over in your life.
Elijah asked for death, but God fed him, even a second time! This shows God was answering the prayer of his soul, not that of his lips. The spirit is always willing to do God’s will but the flesh is always unwilling until you have forced it into obedience. It also means that God ignores some prayers we make which are either detrimental to us or totally out of His will. This happens when we are not persistently asking for that thing. For instance, Elijah requested to die just once. God knows when you make a wrong request out of satanic pressure. Thank God for such unanswered prayers. If God was to answer those requests we made under duress, many of us would have died a long time ago. From today, do not ask God anything that will violate His word.
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over” (Psalm 23:5). The cup of your blessing will overflow in Jesus name. Elijah was fed by God while dogs finally fed on the corpse of Jezebel. All those who have resolved to destroy you and your family this year will be eaten up by dogs if they refuse to repent. In Isaiah 41:10-13, God says those who plan against you will be thrown into confusion and destruction.
MEMORIZE: LUKE 22:42 –Saying, Father if You be willing, remove this cup from Me: nevertheless not My will, but Yours be done.
