READ: 1 CORINTHIANS
3:13-15
“Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming,
in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come
forth; they that have done good, to the resurrection of life, and they that
have done evil to the resurrection of damnation” (John 5:28-29).
The rapture will mark the beginning of what the Bible calls ‘trial by fire.’ According to our reading, fire will reveal every man’s work. The rapture, like death, terminates any opportunities to repent, restitute or serve God. Any restitution not done until the rapture is retained as evidence against you. No excuse would be tolerated by the Master. Also, after the rapture, you have lost all opportunity of working for God and growing your account in Heaven. Some will keep on procrastinating on an assignment the Lord has called them to do. ‘Not today. I will do it tomorrow’, until the rapture or death meets them.
Any assignment left undone at rapture or death stands against you. Serve the Lord now while you may. Rapture marks the time to give account concerning your stewardship to Christ. Carefully carry out your services to God because all your works shall go through fire. The thought of rapture should instill fear into any right thinking believer. Some questions you would want to ask yourself are: am I ready? Is there any unfinished business? Any pending restitution? Any assignment yet to be carried out? Am I holding a grudge against anybody? Have I developed and traded with all my God-given talents and made profit for my Master?
According to Ephesians 5:22 and Matthew 5:48, God’s standards of absolute spotlessness and perfection are enough to frighten us. Work out your salvation today. Put right those thing that are wrong. Meanwhile, are you owing anybody or God anything? Pay it now. Jesus is coming whether you look forward to it or not. In Revelation 1:10-17, as close and perfect as John was, he still fainted out of fear when he saw the Bridegroom. Are you prepared for His coming?
